By 1830, both \u201cChadburn &amp; Co\u201d and \u201cWilliam Chadburn &amp; Co\u201d were at the Sheffield address and \u201cChadburn &amp; Son\u201d was operating in Liverpool.\r\n\r\nWilliam Chadburn and Sarah Wright married in 1807. They were Quakers. In 1837, their sons, Alfred and Francis took over the Sheffield and Liverpool businesses as \u201cChadburn Brothers\u201d, to be joined by their brother Charles in 1841. (Curiously, Francis is known only as \u201cWright\u201d in registers and the census.) Their advertisement from 1845 also mentions a \u201cphotographic portrait gallery\u201d. Adverts from the end of the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century describe them as \u201copticians &amp; manufacturers of spectacles &amp; all kinds of optical lenses, optical and mathematical instruments, Albion Works\u201d. They had a substantial exhibit at the Great Exhibition at the Chrystal Palace in London, organised by Prince Albert in 1851, and received the honour of terming themselves as \u201cby Appointment, suppliers\u201d to the Prince.
