D.B. Kagenaar (1842-1924)
D.B. Kagenaar started working as a custodian and mechanic at the Physiological Laboratory in Utrecht in 1860. He produced and marketed a large variety of physiological, opthalmological and medical instruments, many based on the ideas of the Professors of the Department, F.C. Donders, Th. W. Engelman and H. Zwaardemaker. According to a German-language catalogue from the turn-of-the-century, he was supplying up to a hundred Professors and Institutes both in the Netherlands and as far away as the USA and Russia.
