FOTH

Carl Friedrich Foth

Carl Friedrich Foth, a descendant of a Dutch family, started a workshop making optical instruments at the end of the 19th century. In 1924, he moved his business to buildings of the former Danziger Gewehrfabrik in Danzig, Prussia (Gdansk, Poland). Here, he manufactured binoculars, microscopes, radios and headphones under the name C.F. Foth & Co Danzig. The local 1924-1926 telephone book lists Carl Foth as the director of the company, but it is not clear who is indicated by “& Co.”. The factory may have been a continuation of one established elsewhere in the former German Empire, but no longer German territory after 1919.
