Rudolph Jung (1845-1900)
Working with a pathologist called Richard Thoma, Rudolph Jung developed the first microtome able to cut tissue samples into reproducibly thin sections. In 1872, Jung founded the “Precision Engineering Company R. Jung”. During the 20th century, the company merged with Reichert and is now part of Leica.
