Description

Stand ‘M’ is an inverted microscope of the ‘Le Chatelier’ type, the object under investigation lies on a simple stage, under which the optical system of the microscope is mounted. The instrument is adapted to incident light only, the objective lenses are corrected for use without cover slip.

Stand ‘M’ was the most expensive stand made by Bleeker, in 1962 it did cost 2700 Dutch guilders, approximately 7500 Euro in present day terms. It is not well known how many were ever made, probably not more than a few dozens. The specimen in the Utrecht University museum is the last one ever made, carrying serial number 36000.

The microscope has an integrated camera for photographic plates of 6.5 × 9 cm.
