In a mahogany box.
This is an example of Beck’s ‘British Students’ microscope, stand type 55. It was advertised in 1900 with one eyepiece and a 2/3 inch and a 1/6 inch objective for 6 pounds sterling, 8 shillings en 6 pennies. The microscope has a tripod type stand, the limb can be inclined over an angle of 90 degrees between trunnions. The microscope has a simple square stage with spring clips, below the stage an iris diaphragm and a mirror in a bracket. Coarse adjustment is by rack and pinion acting on the body tube in the usual way. Fine adjustment is by a micrometer screw and a lever acting on the nosepiece. There is a double objective changer. With the microscope goes a bull’s eye on a stand.
